  • How do I resolve Connectivity Cable driver issues when installing Nokia PC Suite?

To resolve this issue, you can try reinstalling Nokia PC Suite by following these steps:

Disclaimer: Nokia does not hold responsibility if there are problems encountered after making the relevant changes to Windows registry; deleting the registry is at users own risk.

  1. Open the Registry Editor: from Start menu, click Run then type regedit in Open field and press Enter.
  2. In the Registry Editor window, select My computer, then select the File menu and click Export. Type a name for the file and click the Save button.
  3. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER, then Software. Right-click Nokia and select Delete.
  4. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then Software. Right-click PCSuite and select Delete.
  5. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then Software. Right-click Nokia and select Delete.
  6. Open the Start menu, click Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click on Add or Remove Programs.
  7. Select Nokia PC Suite, then click the Change/remove button.
  8. In the Nokia PC Suite window, click the Uninstall button and follow the wizard.
  9. Select Nokia Connectivity Cable driver, click the Remove button and follow the wizard.
  10. Delete or rename the following folders:
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Application Data\PC Suite\ConfServer
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Nokia\ContentCopier
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Nokia\PCSync\SynchData
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Datalayer
  • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Phone Browser (hidden folders)

Note: to view hidden folders, make sure the Show hidden files and folders option is selected in Folder Options. You can find Folder Options in Control Panel on your computer.

Now you can proceed to re-install Nokia PC Suite.

  • Why do I receive an error message indicating my certificate expired when connecting my phone?

 Please update the phone's firmware using Nokia Software Updater. Before updating the software, make sure to back up all data from the phone.

  • What can I do if Nokia PC Suite can not detect the connected device?

Check if a service named PCSuite.exe is running and if it is stop that service. In order to do that, you need to open Task Manager:

  • Right click in a free space of the taskbar, where there are no buttons. In the context menu select Task manager
  • Click on the Processes tab to view all running processes
  • Click on the Image Name word to order processes alphabetically 
  • Scroll down to PCSuite.exe. and and on the Image Name.
  • Right click PCSuite.exe and select End Process from the context menu.
  • Confirm the closure of the process by clicking Yes in the popup message box. 

Uninstall Nokia PC Suite from Nokia PC Suite uninstall wizard. To do this, please follow the steps from below:

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Select Add/Remove Programs
  3. Browse to and remove every piece of Nokia software. Start with Nokia PC Suite and continue with  PC Connectivity Solution and all Windows Driver Package-Nokia modem drivers.
  4. In Windows click the Start button on the taskbar.
  5. Select Run
  6. Type regedit.exe
  7. Click Ok
  8. In the left pane of Regedit, expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  9. Expand Software
  10. Delete all Nokia and PC Suite folders.
  11. Go back and expand HK_LOCAL_MACHINE
  12. Expand Software
  13. Delete all Nokia and PC Suite trees (if still exists)
  14. Delete the following folders:  
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\PC Suite\ConfServer
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application DataNokia\ContentCopier
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Nokia\PCSync\SynchData
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Datalayer
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Phone Browser (hidden folders) 
  1. Navigate to Windows directory in \system32\drivers and remove the file wdf01000.sys. You should copy this file to another location in case you will need it later.
  2. Reboot PC
  3. Download and install latest PC Suite from http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite.
  4. Open the application and connect device using wizzard.

  • How do I resolve error: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run when installing Nokia Software Updater?

Please try the following steps as a possible workaround:

1. Download and install 7-Zip application. You can find at: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

2. Use 7-Zip to extract the contents of NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_en.exe into a folder on your computer.

3. Inside that folder, locate the file Packages\NokiaSoftwareUpdater\Setup\NokiaSoftwareUpdater.msi

4. Double-click on that file to start the installation.

 

If the issue is still present, please try the following steps:

  1. Make sure you have administrator rights on the machine
  2. Open Registry (Start->Run->type regedit in Open field and click Ok)
  3. Take a back up of the registry (Highlight My computer->File->Export)
  4. Navigate to HK_CURRENT_USER\Software/PCSuite and delete the complete folder
  5. Navigate to HK_CURRENT_USER\Software/Nokia and delete the complete folder 
  6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/PCSuite and delete the complete folder
  7. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Nokia and delete the complete folder
  8. Uninstall Nokia PC Suite
  9. In Windows navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
  10. Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable driver
  11. Delete the following folders:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\PC Suite\ConfServer
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application DataNokia\ContentCopier
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Nokia\PCSync\SynchData
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Datalayer
  • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Phone Browser (hidden folders)
  1. Update Windows Installer by downloading the latest version from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en
  2. Use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

  • How do I do a complete uninstall of Nokia Music?

First do a simple uninstall:

  1. Select Run from the Start Menu. In the Run window type “cmd” and click ‘Ok’
  2. In the command window type the following:
    1. cd C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Music and hit enter 
    2. NokiaMusic.exe /command:uninstall all and hit enter
  3. Select Nokia Music and click Remove/Uninstall.
  4. Wait for uninstall to complete, reboot if required

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these additional steps to completely remove Nokia Music from the PC.

  1. Go back to Add or Remove programs.
  2. Select Nokia Multimedia Common Components and click Remove/uninstall. If a message is displayed saying that the component is needed by Nokia Music then do the following:
    1. Click ‘Run’ on the start menu and type “regedit”
    2. In the window displayed navigate to either “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Software\Nokia\MPlatform\” or, “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Nokia\MPlatform”
    3. Delete the key “MPlatform” from the registry
    4. Repeat step 2.
  3. Delete the following folders if they are present, but first make hidden files and folders visible:
    1. Open a windows explorer window (for example My Documents or Computer).
    2. Go to Tools > Folder options...
    3. On View tab go to Advanced settings
    4. Ensure Show hidden files and folders is selected.
  1. On Windows XP:
    1. C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Music
    2. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\MPlatform
    3. C:\Documents and Settings\<<Windows Username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store
    4. C:\Documents and Settings\<<Windows Username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Music
  2. On Windows Vista:
    1. C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Music
    2. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\MPlatform
    3. C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store
    4. C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Music
  3. Go back to Add or Remove programs.
  4. Select PC Connectivity Solution and click Remove/uninstall.
  5. Select Nokia Connectivity Cable drive and click Remove/uninstall.
  6. Reboot PC

If the cause of the issue seem to be related to compatibility problem with other Nokia applications, remove Nokia Ovi Suite or Nokia PCSuite including Nokia Photos and delete all Nokia folders.

  • Do the Nokia E75 and N85 support email synchronisation via Nokia PCSuite?

Email synchronisation using Nokia PC Suite  is not supported with the Nokia E75, and N85 devices. These  phones have a new email wizard that does not include the sync email option, which is needed by PC Sync in order to synchronise emails using Nokia PC Suite.  Hence, the email synchronisation feature using Nokia PC Suite is not available, as these devices do not support this feature

To download the latest version of PC Suite, please visit the Nokia web site at www.nokia.com/pcsuite. Download the file to your computer then double click the executable to start the install process. Connect your phone to the computer only after PC Suite is installed.
